Description[]

American light tank based on the M5 tank chassis. Carries a light yet potent 75mm howitzer used for engaging soft targets, as well as two machine guns.

History[]

Produced from 1942 onwards.

Usage & Tactics[]

The American M8 Scott is a powerful, nippy weapons platform with excellent speed and decent armor to boot. Its 75mm howitzer can be used to easily dispatch enemy infantry or emplacements from behind cover using its generous ballistic arc, while its .50 Cal and .30 Cal machine guns can provide an excellent fire screen all on their own. When attacking, the vehicle's two machine guns can be put to good use eliminating infantry while the gun is reloading. Do not attempt to engage tanks (unless they are particularly fragile), as its lack of AP rounds will mean your doom.

Offensive Tactics[]

When attacking, the vehicle's two machine guns can be put to good use eliminating infantry while the gun is reloading. Although a bit expensive for a light assault vehicle, the Scott still excels outside of tucked-away cover as an infantry support tank should the need arise.

Defensive Tactics[]

Use its speed and fairly low profile to hide behind cover, lobbing shells onto enemy positions. As long as it remains unexposed, the Scott can deal consistent damage to enemy soft targets in just about any situation up to a respectable 130 meters away. If rushed by a light vehicle or infantry, opt for using the .50 Cal machine gun over the main gun in most situations. Be aware that the .50 is not 360 degree, so keep the turret up with the direction of attack.
